craziness

This week I've had a taste of what life as a working mom will be like.  These past two weeks have been completely packed with design work, blogging and just general holiday stuff. And I made an amazing discovery…

There are only 24 hours in a day.

Shocking, I  know.

Yet, somehow it was a surprise to me that I can't work 30 hours a week and still do everything else I was doing before.

Lots of other things have slid. I haven't been playing with my kids as much as usual. We're almost out of toilet paper and toothpaste. My house is a disaster and my family has been eating more dinners of scrambled eggs or cereal than I care to admit.

Recently, someone asked me, "How do you do it all?" And I just about laughed in her face.

Haven't we figured out by now that NO ONE does it all?

Some of us work full time, some of us stay home with our kids. Some
of us have husbands who travel, leaving us alone
with the kids. Some of us volunteer at school or in the community and
really do look like we have it all together and some of us don't.  We
all have to take care of our kids, our homes, our families and
ourselves.   And we all only have 24 hours in a day – we just use it differently.

You play with your kids? Well, that’s the problem. ;-)

Very well said, there is no way to do it all…EVER. My house is always a mess, but I would rather it be that way then not be able to do something else that is way more important.

Amen! No one can do it all. We just do what we can do and do the best that we can and hope that it is enough. I wonder what I will have to give up once the new baby comes in the spring. I’ve already warned Tom that I may not be able to continue to work full time…

So true. People ask me that question all of the time. My reply? “I don’t.” Do it all, that is. ;)

Oh my. It’s like we learned the same thing in the same week. I TOTALLY need more than 24 hours in a day because I can’t do it all, but it feels like I need to, you know?
I think we just need a vacation, huh? How about we go visit Ubisoft in California? You? Me? Our laptops and DS games? lol
So great to “meet” you through all the awesome UbiMoms!

I can relate to this post! I keep trying to keep up the house at the level I was keeping it up when I was staying at home…but that just ain’t gonna happen now that I work full time again! I don’t know what I was thinking! Sheesh!
