I'm thinking about the skinny jean just b/c I got a great pair of tall black boots but.... can short girls pull it off? I think I'd end up looking like a pear squeezed into a straw.

id say give it a try - at least the slim leg! bring your boots shopping with you! as long as you have the right top, you should be fine!! do NOT try that look with a sweater dress - youll probably wont be able to see your jeans ;-) maybe a top that hits at or just above your hips...

My days for skinny jeans are currently on hold - not a good maternity look but I got a pair from the Loft last winter and wore them with brown riding boots all the time! I love Uggs too. I took the plunge last spring when they were on sale at Nordstrom Rack although I haven't worn them too much yet...

Jen, try a straight leg jean. That's what I wear with mine. Not QUITE so form fitting. And they also look nice with flats.

Are you writing this from inside my closet? ha! Gotta love fall clothes! Another fun trick - if you know you are only wearing your skinny jeans tucked in - buy the "short." I'm in no way short, but it's less bulk tucked in to your boots!

I completely and totally agree with all your findings! However, I have only given in to Uggs (and yes, men should NEVER wear Uggs!) I'm afraid boyfriends will make me look sloppy, skinnys will make me look fat, headbands will make me look June Cleaver-y. I admit it! I'm a fashion wimp! Good for you for embracing trendy styles!

great idea, laura!!

I've been eyeing the LOFT skinnies for weeks, waiting for a sale. Tried them on already and they are so comfy. The ON straight fits are surprisingly cute. And, yes, a short girl (trust me, I'm really short) can pull off the look. I've been doing leggings with tall black boots and a long cami-type sweater. Totally works. BUT don't do the full sweater. I tried one at ON the other day and it looked lousy. Of course, I'm sure there's something at Nordstrom that would look just fine instead...

OK, I know I've only met you a few times in person, but girl you would look gorgeous in anything!

Yes I'm jealous but you are too nice to hate. I'll just have to live the skinny jeans vicariously through you. ;)

Your stance on skinnies is EXACTLY like mine. EXACTLY. I swore up and down that they were the most horrific things I'd ever seen. I'm not sure what made me venture into that realm, but once I did I was so surprised that I could kinda sorta pull 'em off. Pleasantly surprised.

And I, too, thought the black polish was a little too Addams Family for my tastes, but now I'm digging it. My problem is that polish only lasts five or six days on my nails tops. How nice would it be if someone would invent a solution to *that* problem?

I think Uggs are super cute. I don't own a pair, but I do own 6 other pairs of boots (or maybe it's 7...). I LOVE wearing boots in the fall & winter.

I haven't gotten into the skinny jeans trend, in part because I've seen so many walking fashion disasters out and about. I still stick to the premise that skinny jeans only look good on the minority of the population. You are probably in that minority. ;)

RE: headbands. I totally love the way they look, but they always seem to give me a headache. Your thoughts about that?

stephanie- have you tried the goody ouchless flex headbands? i can wear those without any trouble. skinny headbands dont usually bother me either.

(but i have a tiny head. i had to special order my graduation hat ;-)

I so can't do most of those trends either...and I don't think I ever will. Skinny jeans and boots, nope. Can't do it.

But, I can totally do blue nail polish!

you are so right! all the things you named I thought I wouldn't wear ever, but now I'm walking around in them and loving it!
Keep up the good work!
Love,
