But I can't remember what it was. Perhaps because my son work up at 4am. And wouldn't go back to sleep. And amazingly, my brain is not engaging today, despite my drinking lots o' coffee. Imagine that.
So here's a little list for you this morning:
1. Before you freak out on your kids, make sure you know what they're doing.
"Ellie, what are you doing? WHY are you making a such a big mess with your dinner?"
"Mommy, I'm pretending to be Jesus."
"What?"
"I'm breaking bread and giving it to the disciples to teach them about God. See?"
Oh.
"Carry on."
2. Colin only likes to eat the outside of his food. See?
This is new. Anyone else have kids that do weird stuff like this?
3. So we never got around to Ellie's homework the other night. Her teacher would totally understand if we ended up skipping a night, but I got a lecture anyway. From ELLIE.
"Mom, we have to do our homework and read for at least 10 minutes EVERY NIGHT. My teacher SAID so! It is so important for my learning, Mom! We have to be RESPONSIBLE!"
Well, ex-cuse me, my dear. Let us remember this when you are in junior high, okay?
4. The Halloween candy is KILLING me. I am not strong enough to be in the same vicinity of an open bag of Reese's Cups. They are just evaporating out of their hiding place in the cupboard.

Boo gets some homework, but the big stuff comes on Friday’s. Normally we do it Friday afternoon, but I forgot, so Sunday night we were doing it. She gave me a lecture too. Not fun.
Only likes to eat the outside of his food, eh? Oh, that is priceless – had me chuckling so hard! I find it comforting to hear other stories of food woe.
And “carry on” – ah, there’s some fine parenting!
Thanks for sharing!
he is by far my most picky eater. if it was up to him he would eat nothing but grapes and hot dogs.
If there is a Reese’s cup within 10 feet of my front door, I can hear it calling my name. This is why I allow the kids to eat as much Halloween candy as they can as soon as they get it. For some reason it never goes straight to THEIR thighs!
So funny! And number three? I love Ellie- that was so me, crazy responsible at the age of five and six. Hey I turned out totally (ahem, neurotic and absurdly tidy) fine! Regarding number four? I’m just glad it’s not only me…although after your post I might just have to go eat ANOTHER mini Reeses- humph!
Those 4 am mornings are rough. We had one of those last week. Ellie is too funny! I am very much a rule-follower myself too, and I’m guessing that was me when I was little. And the food issues? We’ve got them big time, but eating only the outside is a new one.
Genny is really great with her homework too…
so sorry for your exhaustion!
(oh, and for the record- NO, I do not think $70 is a great price for that stupid shirt. This fake necklace thing (or even “necklaces” attached to shirts) is driving me CRAZY!
