battles i will no longer fight

getting up early:
The kids wake up by 6am, without fail. Regardless of when they go to bed, how tired they are, what time I went to bed, whether it is Saturday… I need to embrace it and start going to bed earlier and dragging  my bum out of bed when my three little alarms without snooze buttons go off.

DSC_0033-1the schedule:
Ugh. The schedule. Why fight it? We're going to be this busy until they all leave for college. In 17 years. Maybe we'll be able to have a life then. In the meantime, its ballet lessons, soccer practice, meetings and more lessons.

my girls' rooms:
Toys, toys everywhere. Everywhere! We could spend all day cleaning their room and within minutes, its a mess again. The only time it has been clean in the last year was just before we had a showing when our house was on the market.  I will no longer worry about their room and insist on picking it up everyday. I'll clean it occasionally, but that's it! Its their job now!

the girls' crazy hair:

No matter what I do, its all over the place. Any style, any product, doesn't matter. Whatever style we try, it just falls right out because their hair is so soft. (This is them with their hair done. Really.) So I give up. I'll do their hair in the morning, but then I'm not going to worry about it. If they want it hanging in their faces, they can go ahead. If they want me to fix it, I will. But I am through chasing them around with a hairbrush!

So this week, I learned that I had to give up some useless battles I was fighting in order to keep my sanity. What did you learn this week? Go read some more posts here!

I remember when my schedule would remind me of a flight schedule at the airport..coming and going, coming and going. Some how we manage to get everywhere and get it all done. You have to take the approach that this is your social life now. You will be surprised how fast the 17 years go.

these are good battles to choose to let go of…
and I really want to encourage you on the morning thing. I’m a night owl and this has been the HARDEST transition for me. (Gen’s bus leaves at 6:30 so i make breakfast for her and my husband about an hour before hand) There was honestly NOTHING in me that believed i would survive…
But I have and, although this is only week three, I really do like it.

I struggle with getting up early, but it is worth it. I get over an hour on good days with no kids with me, I get a lot done. lol
I HATE kids hair. It is awful to deal with. Boo’s is super thick, heavy and at that in-between stage. We can’t get it back in a ponytail, but it is ALL OVER her face. It makes me groan.

Love the hair picture. So cute. I hope to connect in person soon. As for me I no longer attempt to make personal phone calls. Email or nada!

I’m totally going to try and embrace these, too. I could have made the exact same list.
But dang my Izzy asking for a pony tail in the am, and taking it out later on in the day!

I’m inspired. I may do my own post on the battles I will no longer fight either. Hmmm….gotta start thinking.

Getting up before 6 is TOUGH. I try my best but there is something biological that just won’t let me do it!
