bouquets of freshly sharpened pencils…

I LOVE school shopping. Scratch that. I love school supplies.

Fresh notebooks. New markers and crayons. Pens (Gee, I love pens). Organizers and folders and files (oh, my). Highlighters. Wite-out. Pretty binders. Notecards. Post-its (The sizes! The colors!). Binder clips!! (Why do I love binder clips so very much?)

And everything is on sale.

Its really very dangerous for me. I need to exercise great self-control when wandering through the back-2-school aisles at Target. (I can't even walk in to Staples – that is beyond my limits. Seriously.)

Even as a child, I loved getting those new school supplies. I felt so organized, so excited to start using them. And there was that wonderful feeling of a fresh start, a new beginning.

Its the same today. Even when I'm not going to school. I love getting a few new binders and folders and pens (pens!), organizing my desk and file cabinet, and swearing that THIS year, I'll STAY organized.

And now my girls are getting into it: the seriousness as they picking out their lunchboxes and pencil cases, the thrill of new markers and crayons, and the excitement as they pack up their backpacks (two weeks early).

Its nice that some things don't change.

You’ve got mail! I LOVE that quote, because it says so much of how I feel about fall and school supplies and whatnot.
I’m with ya, sister. I could, like, EAT school supplies or something! They’re so fun!

I’m all about pens as well. And really smooth paper. A scratchy pen on a single sheet of paper makes me shudder. Give me a blotter, some smooth smooth writing implement and I’m in heaven.
I also have an obsession with stationery that comes with colored envelops. Because who doesn’t like to see a little pop of color in the mail?

I love a good pen and there is nothing that I hate more than a bad pen. My old office used to stock the good ones – my office now only has bad ones. My day would be so much easier if I could have a better pen :)

I think school supplies may have been one reason I became a teacher. I absolutely love going into staples and like you LOVE pens. Sharpies are also my thing…the thick ones, the thin ones, and so many colors…I’m in heaven. I can’t wait to try the pen ones. Have fun back to school shopping!!

I always liked making paper bag book covers for my books at the beginning of each school year and wondered why we don’t do that anymore, which is why I started making art-y versions of them last summer. We just printed our first Artists Edition — check them out at http://www.bookcityjackets.com/blog/gallery and let me know what you think!

I love school supplies…and I love Target. I can’t go into Staples either, my brain would leak out of my ears I would be so excited.
But, I did stock up on notebooks. Target had a bundle for .60 each, I got 5. We use them a ton around the house during the year, and I don’t think I will need to buy any for next year.
My favorite part this year…Boo gets to have a pencil box, not sharing supplies this year. I didn’t have to buy pencils because we have a TON that I could never send with her before now. I did a happy dance.
