For dinner tonight, I would like crabcakes, a yummy salad, warm, crusty rolls, filet mignon, roasted asparagus covered in salt with a glass of red wine. And something super decadant for dessert. Like creme brulee with a cup of hot coffee. Served with a few hours of quiet, uninterrupted conversation with Husband.
I will probably have leftover pasta. With two kids complaining that they don't like the shape of the pasta. And a baby either sitting in my lap trying to grab my fork or screaming because we are not shoveling the baby food in his mouth fast enough.
Sigh.
What do you want for dinner tonight? And what will you actually be having?

i will be watching my kids eat macaroni and cheese (made from a box) while telling myself that i’m a great mom because it’s “organic” and opening a last minute can of green beans for them while telling myself they are high-end because the are “french cut” and anything “french” is high end… if the Boy refused to eat any of the above, i will feed him hot dogs while telling myself they are fine because they are hebrew national and therefore kosher and that should mean something to me because i live in lower merion… i will be having a can diet caffeine free soda for dinner because i seem to be growing at an astronomically exponential rate…
… husband is probably eating steak and lobster off an expense account in Texas…
… hope this made you feel a teensy bit better about your night
… but what i would like for dinner? gee… no one has asked me that in years… i don’t even know how to answer that question…
i would settle for anything that doesn’t come from a drive thru or a cereal box.
in reality i am eating chips and salsa while frantically organizing a service project for 60 people. and probably eating cookie dough for dessert while attempting to make cookies for work tomorrow.
What I want for dinner? Those crab cakes sound delicious, or a nice piece of steak or some surf ‘n turf… just something that I am not cooking myself. I’ll probably be having some leftover pizza I made for lunch or a hot dog and ricearoni in an attempt to eat up my food before leaving for break… but at least I’ll get my sea food at red lobster monday:o)
I want exactly what you want in the first paragraph!! Instead I had frosted mini wheats. =/
I’ve been dying for crab topped filet for months now. DYING. To the point where I considered taking a pregnancy test dying.
I’ve been to seafood restaurants and steakhouses, but no one has it. I may have to go to some sort of BYOC steakhouse.
Want to come? Just me, you and the husbands?
Last night I had spaghetti, but I found a leftover box of wine in the backyard from our party on Saturday (limited refrigerator space+winter= no problem) so I had a glass and a half of Franzia Zinfandel. So not what I wanted.
I’ll have what she’s having. Thank you, sir.
I had: leftovers one night, pizza the next night, and grilled cheese the night after that. I did, though, finally cook a really good roast last night and serve it with excellent sides. Not quite what you ordered up, but at least it got us out of the rut.
ummm .. is gingerbread cookie dough dinner?
Megan was originally going to make a broccoli casserole, but we were out of broccoli, which apparently kills the dish. I was two strong beers in at that point anyway, so our couscous/chikin dinner was quite tasty.
What would I really want to eat? Lots of courses here. Artichoke fritters to start. Crab cakes or crab legs. shrimp. a fancy salad. (these courses would do well with a pinot grigio) Then a glass of Malbec with a nice steak, with brazilian black beans and some flash fried spinach on the side. follow it up with some sort of brownie type dessert and a glass of scotch.
Alternatively, a half dozen tapas plates from a nearby japanese restaurant. (Have you ever had Kobe beef meatballs in pineapple sauce? you should…)
Taco bell sounds strangely good too…
Let’s see on the 18th, I probably had cereal, but desired a filet with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh, crisp blue chesse salad. yes, I will be cooking tonight now!
