what to do?

Tomorrow both girls are in school for three hours in the morning.

And I am determined to do something for myself. I need a kid-free break this week.

But I don’t know what to do with myself! Clearly, an obvious answer would be “go to the spa and get a massage and a pedicure” – which would be awesome – except I do not have $200 to spare so I need something a tad cheaper. I suppose I could sleep. But that’s kind-of boring.

Any ideas?

*****update
I ended up running to the grocery store (not relaxing) but then I came home, took a long hot bath, gave myself a mani and pedi, read my book and drank lots of coffee. Very nice. I did decide, though, that I am no longer able to give myself a nice pedicure. Seeing as it is rather uncomfortable to reach my feet now. Guess I’ll have to go to the spa. Darn.

give yourself a pedicure – although not as good, it’s cheap and you don’t have to leave your house! Or a bath with candles, you cannot beat that.

what about catching a movie? or, do you have a local esthetics program (school) where you could get a facial? they usually take an hour, are relaxing AND only run about $10-15…

sleep may be boring, but it’s also practical. Who knows, you could wake up with fresh perspective and it may give you the energy to get some other things accomplished.

I say catch a flick. You could go to the local dollar theater or the big run theater and see a chick flick (27 Dresses, P.S. I love you, etc.)

I happen to have a list:
    Think a thought
Poop for as long as it takes
Take a shower without a Darth Vader mimic at the door
Drink out of the carton without setting a bad example
Eat ice cream without having to share
Read an entire article without stopping to….(insert tedious Mommy activity here)
Shop for YOURSELF without anyone to “handle” or anyone who will annoy the mean sales ladies — unless, of course, I go too
Go potty at the exact moment that you have to go….not 12 hours later
Watch television that does not include the Backyardigans theme song (as much as you love it)
Go have lunch with your husband or an equally stimulating adult
    Curse with abandon
Turn off your Mommy radar…listening for thuds or crying or screaming or cursing from the next room
    Smell the roses
