I’m having great hair angst. (Again, tackling the big issues here at fun. crazy. life.)
I haven’t had my hair cut since last September. As in 2006. (Insert sound of my friend Hannahumma fainting here.) When we decided we were going to India and I realized that I would have a much greater chance of looking okay in the 3 zillion pictures my husband will undoubtedly take if I grew my hair long, seeing as I will not have my hairdryer. Or my flat iron. (sob!) Or even be showering all that often. The plan is to do the ponytail for the entire trip. Stylin’. They’ll be me.
But I’m totally, completely, utterly sick of my boring hair. I think I’d like to get it cut shorter again. Or should I keep it long and do highlights? I’ve always wanted highlights. But will they kill my hair? Ugh. I’m just stuck in a hair rut and its driving me crazy!!!!!

Our last hurdle to our trip to India is being jumped this week – visa applications. Today the girls and I went to get more passport pictures taken, which you need to apply for a visa. But this time, the girls smiled nicely and took great pictures (unlike their actual passport pictures). Why? Bribery. Donut bribery.

Remember the party Grace got invited to? With the professional invites? Its tomorrow and I just looked up where this girl’s house is. DANG. I’m very excited to step inside a house in this gorgeous neighborhood that I drool over every day as I drive past taking the girls to school. (Called “Wisteria Lane” — no joke!!!) Grace is really excited, though. Now I just have to pick out our outfits…..

Oh, I feel your pain with the hair. I’m in the midst of the worst hair I’ve had in years. I am in dire need of a haircut, but cannot find five minutes to call the stylists who are booked until forever. UGH. I hate that men don’t get this.
ugh. I have had grey hair peppering in since my 20′s. I say go for the highlights. I get a foil every 4-6 months and just use expensive/rich moisturizer.
And um, I’m a little behind on my blogging way. India? Lord, I need to keep reading and catch up…..
I get a new style and colour, oh…every 2 months. There’s no point in paying for something unless I come out with a completely different look. Platinum to black, shaved at one side and extensions, I’ve done it all to varying degrees of success.
That said, I’m trying to rock the ‘natural hair colour’ and ‘healthy’ hair look at the moment, and you know what? I’m getting more compliments than ever (mostly because I don’t look like a complete prat.) I say, get a nice all-over hair colour wash to warm up your hair a bit, get any nasties trimmed off and use a superb conditioner (Davines is luuuuverly.) Jojoba oil or avocado oil in the hair every night (wash it out in the morning otherwise you’ll look like an actor in Trainspotting) does wonders. If you get it cut, you’ll just miss your long hair. And if you get highlights, you’re setting yourself up for a skunk stripe in 2 months’ time, and besides, the money is better spent on cute shoes both for you and the kids. You’ll feel great about yourself with a nice head of happy, healthy, shining locks and nobody will say, “Ohhh, you’ve had a haircut,” they’ll just say, “Ohhh, you look fantastic.” And you’ll also avoid the horrible possibility of ‘bad highlights’ and a ‘crap haircut’. Also, you’ve got a pretty face so why hide it with fancy hair?
Oh…and I heard hair bleach is bad for babies. Can anybody confirm this?
Now see, since I don’t have a photo of you hair, I can’t really give an opinion
I wouldn’t cut it short though…do layers. It looks GREAT in a ponytail and do the highlights. It shouldn’t damage your hair. – I sound like a hairdresser lol
Hair coloring used to be bad for babies, but these days the chemicals they use are much much safer than, say, 30 years ago. My doctor says its fine.
I’m thinking that once I just get a trim, it will make SUCH a huge difference that I’ll be happy once again. I hope. I’ve learned that hard way that its a really bad idea to do drastic things to your appearance when your pregnant (aka under the infulence of raging hormones) so I don’t want to go too crazy and then have my angst return!!
I’m a ponytail girl myself!! You have to take pix of the party so we can join in the fun..
*gasp*… (btw- thanks for the props in the blog!) … i will cut it. do not highlight. you do not have time to upkeep that.
