So today I gave my girls haircuts. Oh. My. Goodness. Gracie’s hair is SO short. Not only should I have known that it is impossible to get a 3-year-old to sit still for longer than .8 seconds so it is extremely difficult to cut their hair straight. But why didn’t it occur to me that when you cut curly hair wet is gets so much shorter when it dries?!!?!? Why?!?! WHY????
She will be telling her therapist about this some day, as she wonders why there were no pictures taken of her from September 2007 until July 2008.
Husband keeps making helpful suggestions (after his initial “What did you do to her hair??? comment) like “Maybe if you cut that bottom part a little shorter it would even it out?”
“NO!” I say “NO!! I’m never cutting her hair again!!! I’m going to take her to a salon when she is 7 and this haircut is grown out enough that I’m not totally embarrassed when the stylist asks me who gave this adorable girl this ridiculous haircut!!!!!!”
Yes, I will post a picture when she will stand still long enough.
Okay – Here she is on Saturday, getting a pony ride at the zoo. Look at those curls. Sob! Please don’t throw stones at me for even thinking about touching those curls.

Here’s the best post-traumatic haircut one I could get:

Not a good shot. But this video will show you why they were all a little blurry. She was a bunny, after all. And this is how much energy she has after going to ballet class and not having dessert. Can you just imagine her on sugar?

I attempted to trim Jessica’s bangs once on the morning of Justin’s christening. I called my neighbor who is a hairdresser and she came right over and rescued me. She also taught my girls that they were never allowed to let mommy near them with scissors again. You could always say that she did it to herself…..
OMG! Never ever cut someone else’s hair! That is my cardinal rule!
My brother cut all my hair off when we were kids and all my pictures have super short hair. She will be traumatized, oh yes, she will be traumatized.
At least they didn’t try to cut their own hair. My son gave my daugther a mullet about two years ago. It was horrible. It can’t possibly be as bad as you think…pictures, please!
My kids have been DRILLED about never, ever, EVER cutting people’s hair. ONLY Mommy cuts hair (since I cut Husband’s hair). Thank goodness she didn’t cut it herself.
Thankfully TWO people today told me her hair was adorable, who didn’t know I had cut it. Course they hadn’t seen her all summer, so they didn’t have anything to compare it to
UGH. I’m anxious to see it tomorrow. :-/
I just don’t understand why you deprived me of the joy of my hair for children division and cutting ther hair? my love to the babies.
Let this be a lesson to the rest of the parents who are thinking of doing this. I’m a hairdresser, we get stuff like that happening all the time (people who suddenly decide they can cut hair) so we’re used to it…at least take her in so they can make it even!!
I thought she looked cute today!
Ok, who cares what you did to her hair, she’s so stinking beautiful. “his name was Bob” ha ha ha ha. Her hair looks great, it’s not too short, she looks adorable.
