she told me

Me: Gracie, its time to get dressed so we can go to the library.
Grace: currently wearing her Cinderella ball gown Mom. I am a princess.
Me: I know you are, but you need to change for the library.
Grace: Princesses wear dresses. I am a princess. So I must wear my princess dress. Its my job.

I have been spending  most of today trying to find babysitters. Since I apparently need one for the month of September.   Beyond going out of town for 4 days, which is serious kid coverage, I have a zillion other things this month and a husband who is traveling up a storm.  And almost all of my sitter needs are for things that are totally not fun. Things like Back to School Night and OB/GYN appointments. I hate having to pay a sitter for something un-fun.
I miss my free babysitters in-laws.

I’m getting desperate for ways to get my kids to go to bed earlier this week, since Husband is gone. Tomorrow, Ellie has her first ever sleepover. (sob!) But in the meantime, I went on the advise of a friend and got some books on tape for them to listen to in bed before they fall asleep.  My nights have been quite bad the last few days, so I’m nervous about being here on my own. We’ll see how this goes.

Sorry, I have to agree with Gracie on this one! It is her job after all. I can empathize as I have taken my own princess and Batman on many many errands.

Very cute! My princess doesn’t like to change out of her gowns either. :)

I know it’s not really the right kind of weather outside but….what about some good old fashion chicken soup to go with the crackers, rice cakes. Hopefully this morning sickness phase will pass soon.

Zoe is into her ballet stuff right now and doesn’t go anywhere without her tu-tu and either ballet or tap shoes. Thank goodness we have open house on Thursday…I’m gonna pay that teacher to tell her she can’t wear her stuff except to lessons!! Since school started we are working on a bedtime routine too cause my kids were going to bed way to late. We moved it up to 8 for my 3 year old and 8:30 for the 6 year old and that is after 15-30 of quiet time. My son loves books on cd and will listen to them before going to bed or during quiet time when we are home all day. Good luck! My husband only goes on one business trip a year for 4 days and as soon as he gets home I begin dreading the next year. I don’t know how single mom’s do it! Gotta agree that in-laws are great free babysitters!
