a quiet place

“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:13b

Do you ever get the feeling the God is talking directly to you? This is our memory verse in Bible Study for the next two weeks. I had to stop right there and didn’t finish any more of the study.

This fall, I began leadership in CBS, working as a substitute leader. I’ve been enjoying it, but struggling a bit to get my homework done and I’m still feeling very intimidated to be in leadership with all these amazing Christian women. I’m always impressed when we go over the lesson in leaders how deep and well-thought people’s answers are. Whereas mine are like, “Yes” or “No” or “Jesus healed her and she was happy.” (very profound, I know.) This has been bothering me, since not only am I struggling to get my lessons done at all, but they aren’t even done well.

But, it hit me this morning when I was working on this lesson and got to the memory verse. I was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking coffee, eating breakfast, with Sesame Street on in the background. During my lesson I had: changed a diaper, made breakfast for Little Sis, gotten more coffee, made chocolate milk, gotten Big Sister dressed and answered the phone.

Well, mystery solved.  No wonder my answers stink. I can’t remember the last time I did my Bible Study in a quiet place. Its usually at the coffee table while the kids watch a video or while Husband watches tv at night. I mean, who can concentrate on anything else when Lost is on? ;-) (I mean, did you see last night’s episode? Did you?!?)  So this is my new resolution. I will do my Bible Study in quiet. While not doing anything else. Really.  I think this will make a huge difference, both in my study answers and in my walk with the Lord.  And hopefully I can have the self-discipline to stick to it.

Good Luck with Bible Study! Quiet Time sounds like it is exactly what you need! Heck, I think I need some too!

Found your name on scribbet blog…came to visit…and find I “must?” comment on some of your statements about DBS women. Do yourself an enormous favor and never, ever compare yourself to anyone else. If the Lord intended you to be like other women, he’d have made you them. I know it’s tempting when you see someone else be deeper, speak more profoundly, etc. etc. but it’s all a Big Lie. There is only one person you are to be like and that is you. You are just right. Have a lovely day!
